600 litres of fuel stolen from lorry parked in lay-by on A66

Sedbury lay-by on the A66.

Police are appealing for witnesses after thieves stole 600 litres of fuel from a lorry parked in a lay-by.

It happened at Sedbury lay-by, on the A66 neat Scotch Corner, between 9pm on Tuesday, January 21 and 4.10am on Wednesday, January 22.

Around 600 litres of fuel was siphoned from the fuel tank of a heavy goods vehicle that was parked in the lay-by.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “We are requesting the public’s help to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“In particular, we are appealing for information about any sightings of anything out of the ordinary or suspicious between the key times.”
