Local charities to benefit from three friends’ endurance challenge

Three friends will attempt a three-day endurance event for two local charities close to their hearts next month.

Team Thornborough is made up of Mark Brown, who lives near Bedale, Peter Blackburn, from Thornton Steward and Mark Blair, from Catterick Garrison.

The challenge will raise money for awareness for both Bloodwise’s Wensleydale branch and the Robert Dent Memorial Fund for Deaf Children.

This story continues after the adverts:

The Wensleydale branch of Bloodwise was formed in 2012 following local man Andrew Moffitt’s diagnosis of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2011.

Since then the group has raised more than £120,000 for the charity.

The Robert Dent Memorial Fund for Deaf Children was founded in 1991.

Mr Dent, from Wensleydale, who excelled academically and in his career despite being profoundly deaf, died of a brain tumour.

On June 9 the team will begin a three day endurance event, setting off from Leyburn on a 61-mile run trek and cycle which will see them visit Richmond, Northallerton, Thirsk and Ripon, before finishing at Bedale Lodge.
