A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Several fireworks were let off, having appeared to have been deliberately aimed at a remote property in Middleham.

“In close proximity were horses, including several mares in foal, in paddocks adjoining the property and spent fireworks have been found around the house and yard.”

Two males were seen leaving the property via the driveway, before walking along the main road down into Middleham around 12.40am using their phone torches.
