Police appeal over street collectors in Catterick Garrison

Police want to speak to people who gave money to two women who claimed they were collecting for charity.

The women, believed to be of Eastern Europe origin, said they were collecting money for deaf and disabled children.

It is believed they were operating in Catterick Garrison and possibility elsewhere in North Yorkshire in recent days and on Northallerton High Street this afternoon.

The women had paperwork claiming they were receiving donations for the charity.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “If you have given money to the females or were approached by them in Northallerton or Catterick, please call us.”
