Police investigate possible interference of badger sett in Yorkshire Dales

Police are investigating possible illegal interference of a badger set in the Yorkshire Dales.

The sett is at an undisclosed location in the upper Wensleydale.

Police say there is evidence that people have been digging at the sett.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the investigation was at its early stages.

A Natural England enforcement officer is assisting police with their investigation.

They have urged anyone with information of illegal interference of badger setts to report it by calling 101.

It is an offence to kill, injure or take a badger, dig for a badger or intentionally or recklessly damage or destroy a badger sett, or obstruct access to it.
