A family-run Richmond greengrocers has expanded into larger premises.
Neeps and Tatties, which was opened six years ago by local couple Dave and Loo Morton, has moved into the former Gilsan Sports shop from their previous store near Costa and Yorkshire Trading.
Since Dave and Loo started the business there has been a steady growth in both over the counter business in the shop and the number of people ordering fruit and veg boxes for delivery to their homes and businesses.
They have now grown out of their first shop and need more room to display their produce for Richmond shoppers as well as to prepare and pack the boxes for delivery.
Currently they have three delivery routes each week in Swaledale, Wensleydale and Richmond and the surrounding areas and they are looking to establish a further round into Teesdale.
The larger premises have also allowed them to increase their range of goods and in addition to a broad selection of fresh fruit and vegetables they are now stocking cheese from Swaledale, Teesdale and Wensleydale, bread from Richmond Station’s Angel’s Share, freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh olives and more. Plans for the future include a wet fish counter.
Dave drives to Leeds four times a week to purchase fruit and veg from the wholesale markets, ensuring that they always have fresh stock on offer.
The couple say they are keenly environmentally aware, keeping plastic packaging to a minimum with the majority of their stock displayed loose.
Loo Morton is enthusiastic about their expansion.
“We are all so excited to take on a larger shop and expand our range and capabilities. The shop is in such a fabulous position in the town and we would like to thank McCluckie Projects for the opportunity and all the help & advice they have provided during the move.”
McLuckie Projects purchased the premises earlier this year and are currently in the process of renovating the two flats upstairs, which will soon be available for rent.

Neeps and Tatties expansion is one of three relocations to larger premises that have recently taken place in Richmond with Granny’s Kitchen moving to larger premises in Finkle Street where Grey’s interiors have also relocated.
