He was part of a squad of five Southside boxers competing at the event.

On Friday, Elliot was up against an Irish boxer, who he stopped after landing a crunching body blow after a minute.

On Saturday, the teenager saw us against another Irish boxer and after a rough scrappy three rounds Elliot won a unanimous 5-0 decision.

Sunday’s final saw Elliot box against an English boxer from the North West.

Elliot controlled the bout with some slick counter punching combinations controlling the bout at his pace and winning the bout unanimously 5-0 to take the gold medal.

Dad Simon said: “This was a tough schedule for a young boxer especially after having time off for his exams earlier in the year, but with his dedication to get up and train through the week and then up to Glasgow at the weekends for sparring it just showed how dedicated and hard working Elliot is.

“Everyone at Southside Boxing Academy has welcomed Elliot into the Club and made him one of their own but he’ll always be the Pride of Catterick.”
