A Wensleydale road will close next week for urgent drainage work.
North Yorkshire County Council contractors will be carrying out work on the road around 250m west of the Scarth Nick junction near Redmire.
In a letter to residents, the council says: “Due to the nature of the works and the size and number of site vehicles the road will be closed from the Scarth Nick junction to Redmire Station until the works are completed.
“A signed diversion will be in place via.
“The A684 through Wensley, Aysgarth, Bainbridge and Askrigg, however local traffic can continue to use local roads as required.”
The road is scheduled to be closed between Monday, January 13 and Friday, January 17.
The letter adds: “The work is part of an extensive programme and as a consequence it is possible that some adjustment to the dates or the duration of the works may be necessary should unforeseen circumstances, such as significant weather events or emergencies on the highway network, arise.
“Signs on site will show actual closure dates.
“The road will be reopened as soon as possible on completion of the works.”
Residents can contact the council’s customer resolution centre on 01609 780780 if they have special access needs.
The council added: “We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any disruption that these works may cause and would again request your co-operation to help ensure an efficiently and safely executed project.”
