100 children take part in tag rugby festival at Wensleydale RUFC

More than 100 children took part in a tag rugby festival at Wensleydale RUFC this week.

Teams from schools across Richmondshire and Hambleton attended the event.

The event was organised by Lindsay Evans, head at Crakehall Primary School, with help from volunteers at the rugby club.

Teams taking part included RAF Leeming, Hackforth and Hornby, Masham, Leyburn, Middleham, Spennithorne, Kell Bank, Bedale and, Snape and Thornton Watlass.

Members of Wensleydale RUFC u16s team volunteered to help referee the matches after receiving training on tag rugby reffing the week before.

Jim McRobert, from Wensleydale RUFC, said the event had been a big success.

“I have received fantastic feedback about how well organised it was, how much the children enjoyed it and how good the young men from the U16s were with the children.”
