£100,000 fund created for 2022 festivals and events in Richmondshire

A new funding stream to support festivals in 2022 across Richmondshire has won the support of district councillors.

Members of the authority’s full council have agreed to set aside £100,000 for the Festivals Fund which will have two strands – one to support larger scale events with up to £7,000 per application, and a second to provide up to £2,000 for smaller scale events.

They are using money previously set aside for the now cancelled 2022 Tour de Yorkshire after recognising there is not only a gap for major community event – but also that next summer is a time to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.

“These sort of events enhance the quality of life for our local residents, celebrating community spirit and all that is good about living in Richmondshire,” said council leader, Councillor Angie Dale.

“We hope this funding stream will benefit communities across the district and have a knock on effect on the local economy too.”
