The Original Richmond, Richmond Business and Tourism Association is hosting an evening next week to hear how businesses and the community in Richmond can better work together to maximise all the town has to offer.
The speaker for the event at the at the Georgian Theatre Royal on Tuesday, October 10 is Cllr Johnny Hayes, MBE who set the ball rolling -and kept it going – for the regeneration of Bishopthorpe Road in York.
Bishopthorpe Road Traders Association was formed in 2010, and it didn’t take long, under the brand name Bishy Road, for the street to win The Great British High Street Award.
This story continues after the adverts:
Johnny will d tell the story of how this street in York rose to fame and continues as a thriving shopping area.
Marcia McLuckie, chair of RBTA, said: “We are inviting local businesses, representatives of Richmond organisations and anyone else who would like to hear the Bishy Road story and to discuss how, by working together, we can, not only put Original Richmond firmly on the map, but also start to prepare for the Tour De Yorkshire in May 2018.
“A successful, vibrant town is not just about interesting and thriving businesses, but also an engaged and active community. We know that many local organisations play a part in that.”
The free event starts at 7.30pm.
