Richmondshire Concerts has announced the programme for its 2025/26 season.
Organisers say six chamber music concerts featuring some of the most exciting ensembles and soloists working in the UK and beyond today will be held.
The season opens on Saturday 20 September 2025 with a performance by the VOCES8 Scholars, a highly accomplished young vocal ensemble associated with the internationally renowned VOCES8 Foundation. Their programme, All Seems Beautiful, spans music from the 16th to the 21st century and reflects the group’s impressive versatility and creative vision.
On 4 October, the multi-award-winning Fibonacci Quartet returns to Richmond following a memorable debut last season. Currently Resident Ensemble at the prestigious Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid, the quartet has garnered widespread acclaim across Europe for its expressive range and technical brilliance. Their programme includes Haydn’s Op. 33 No. 4, Janáček’s Intimate Letters, Fergus Hall’s Three Hours After High Water, and Bartók’s String Quartet No. 4 — a thrilling mix of classical and contemporary repertoire that showcases the quartet’s dynamic artistry.
The Delphine Trio takes the stage on 15 November with an eclectic and imaginative programme including Beethoven’s Trio Op. 38, Snow, Moon and Flowers by Camille Pépin, Brahms’ Trio Op. 114, and a playful Fantasy on Bolero arranged by Roelof Temmingh. Formed at the Royal College of Music and recent winners of the Royal Overseas League Competition, the trio is fast gaining an international reputation.
The new year begins on 21 February 2026 with the Kleio Quartet, recent First Prize winners at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition and current BBC New Generation Artists. Their programme features Mendelssohn’s String Quartet Op. 44 No. 3, Terra Memoria by Kaija Saariaho, and Elgar’s String Quartet.
On 21 March, the Piatti Quartet brings a rich and diverse programme including Brahms’ Op. 51 No. 1, Charlotte Harding’s Iorsa, and Dvořák’s Op. 106 — offering a mix of classic repertoire and compelling contemporary work. The ensemble is widely praised for its passionate interpretations and extensive commissioning of new music.
The season concludes on 11 April with soprano Penelope Appleyard and pianist Jonathan Delbridge, performing Sense and Musicality — a delightful exploration of the musical world of Jane Austen. Featuring songs Austen sang or referenced, along with period pieces and selections from film adaptations, the programme is performed on a fully restored 1814 Broadwood Square Piano.
Chair of Richmondshire Concerts, Chris Shaw, said: “This is one of the strongest and most varied seasons we’ve ever presented.
“Every artist in this year’s line-up performs at the highest level — some are established names, others are rising stars with international careers ahead of them, and all bring something remarkable to Richmond.
