Two women arrested after a confrontation with police in Colburn

Two people were arrested last night following reports of anti-social behaviour in Colburn.

At 10.30pm reprorts were received regarding anti social behaviour near the lorry park in Colburn.

It is understood members of the group were banging on lorries.

Police said that on arrival and after an  search of the area a group of youths were found near Hamilton Thompson Close.

A confrontation with police officers then followed.

A police spokeswoman said two women aged 23 and 21 were arrested for alleged offences including suspicion of assaulting a police officer and breaching  a criminal behaviour order.

The 23-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of having an offensive weapon in a public place.

They remaied in custody on Friday lunchtime.
