£50,000 available to Richmondshire community groups

A scheme that has helped more than 400 local community groups over the last eight years has another £50,000 in its funding pot.

Richmondshire District Council’s five Area Partnerships will each receive £10,000 to award to local projects.

The authority’s corporate board this week agreed to continue to support the partnership grants – which have helped secure around £1.4m in funding for the district.

The grants have been awarded to parish councils, community and sports groups for everything from large equipment purchases to smaller community noticeboards.

“This is a vital funding scheme for local projects – we have allocated a massive £255,856 over the last eight years which has helped 427 projects and we look forward to helping even more,” said deputy leader of the council, Councillor Ian Threlfall.

“The maximum amount we can allocate any one group is £1000 but that can make the difference between a project going ahead or stalling.”
