90 vehicles seized in a month during police crackdown

Police in Richmondshire seized 90 vehicles in a month during a crackdown on uninsured drivers.

The operation also targeted vehicles without tax or a valid MOT.

Inspector Martin Metcalfe, from Richmondshire neighbourhood policing team, said: “I am extremely pleased to announce that just in Richmondshire between October 1 and 31, we have seized 90, yes 90 motor vehicles for various reasons, mainly documents offences, but also for being used in crime.

“An example of this would be overnight when sometimes the quieter areas are targeted by travelling criminals, we find them and seize their vehicle, if appropriate.

“So, if you live in a more rural isolated area, please do be reassured that we patrol the quieter more rural areas overnight and are being very proactive in relation to this.

“I am extremely happy with these figures and we will continue to work exceptionally hard to keep our fine county as free from crime as we possibly can.”

  1. If this is apparent in a Rural area of the UK the prize will be no doubt far greater in a Major UK Town or City, sharing best practice is the way forward which will help support & reduce the Insurance and RFL Law abiding Citizens vehicle running costs!
