950 years of music to be celebrated in Richmond

Gill and Paul of Trouvere.

Celebrate Richmond 950 will present 950 Years of Music, a weekend of music in Richmond Castle and around town, next month.

The event will run on October 9 and 10.

Local performers Trouvere will be playing music from the medieval period in the castle in the pop-up tavern.

The Georgian and Victorian periods are to be celebrated by Durham duo, the Ran Tanners performing in Richmond Town Hall.

More musicians are welcome and invited to take part in the medieval tavern in the castle keep, where ale from Richmond Brewing Company will be served.

Marcia McLuckie, from Celebrate Richmond 950, said: “Can you help fill Richmond with music for the weekend?

“The organisers want as much music from the last nine centuries as possible. So, if you’d like to contribute anything from a madrigal to folk to swing to a bit of garage — we’d love to hear from you.

“Please get in touch and tell us what you can offer and we’ll take it from there.”
