A free shuttle bus service to Reeth Show will be provided by the Council

Reeth Show has been cancelled for the last two years.

Richmondshire District Council are providing a free shuttle bus service for visitors to Reeth Show.

The traditional Dales agricultural show takes place next Monday, August 26 on land close to the village.

The fields where parking normally takes place were badly affected by the recent flash floods.

To ensure success of the event, organisers have been granted £950 from the authority to provide the service.

The free shuttle bus will run from Ellerton Abbey Farm, on the B6270 Richmond to Grinton Road, to the showground between 10am and 6pm.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Angie Dale said: “We are delighted that the show is going ahead despite the devastation caused to the village and surrounding area by the flash floods, it shows true community spirit.

“One of their biggest concerns was parking and making provision for the hundreds of people who venture to Swaledale for this traditional show.

“The Yorkshire Dales are very much open for business.”

The show starts at 9.30am with a parade through the village by Reeth Brass Band, the show committee and judges.

It features animals, vintage vehicles, stalls, refreshments and shows, as well as the annual Great Fremington Edge Fell Race.

Open from 9.30am – 5pm admission £8 (children £2).
