The A1 has reopened after a crash involving a HGV near Scotch Corner.
A vehicle went through the central reservation and spilled its load.
The incident resulted in a large fuel spillage on the road causing major traffic delays.

The driver sustained a minor cut to his head and was taken to Darlington Hospital for treatment.
The road was shut for repairs to the barrier to be carried out and for the fuel to be removed.
Traffic was being diverted through Middleton Tyas.
Fire crews from Richmond and Colburn attended this incident and removed a door from the heavy goods. vehicle.
This allowed the driver to walk free after it had collided with the barrier.
All lanes open and closure removed on the #A1M southbound between J56 and J53. Emergency repairs completed. Slight delays remain but these are clearing steadily. Have a safe journey.
