A1 reopens southbound between Barton and Scotch Corner after lorry crashes

The A1 has reopened after a crash involving a HGV near Scotch Corner.

A vehicle went through the central reservation and spilled its load.

The incident resulted in a large fuel spillage on the road causing major traffic delays.

The driver sustained a minor cut to his head and was taken to Darlington Hospital for treatment.

The road was shut for repairs to the barrier to be carried out and for the fuel to be removed.

Traffic was being diverted through Middleton Tyas.
