
The A1 northbound slip exit at Leeming remains shut this morning after last night’s lorry fire.
Residents said they heard a loud bang with some thinking there had been an explosion as the vehicle set alight.
The northbound carriageway was closed while firefighters extinguished the fire.
Crews from Ripon, Thirsk, Northallerton and Boroughbridge attended the scene t about 9.15pm.
Crews used six breathing apparatus, two main jets, water bowser and lighting to extinguish the fire.
It is believed the fire was caused by overheating brakes.

The northbound slip road at the Leeming junction remained closed last night.
Highways traffic cameras picked up images of the vehicle on fire.
