The A1(M) has reopened this after Storm Otto caused multiple accidents this morning.

Several HGVs were blown over and the road was closed from York to Darlington as 70mph winds hit the region.

Emergency services including firefighters from Richmond Fire Station were called to an overturned wagon on the northbound carriageway between Leeming and Catterick.

Two vans and a HGV were involved in another crash on the southbound carriageway near Leeming.

The motorway was closed to allow the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to land.

The road was shut in both directions between York and Darlington junctions for a period on Friday morning while the storm blew over.
