A66 reopens after accident involving 67-tonne excavator

The A66 has reopened after a 67-tonne excavator fell off a lorry.

The road was shut for more than five hours between Scotch Corner and Bowes.

The incident occurred near the East Layton junction.

Police say it involved a 67-tonne excavator which had fallen from the lorry transporting it.

It is understood nobody was injured in the incident.
