The A66 trans-Pennine route had reopened westbound after being closed for an accident today.

Two people were released by firefighters and taken to hospital via road ambulance suffering various injuries.

The road was shut between Scotch Corner and the A67 turn off for around four hours.

  1. I do wish that the road closure details could be made more specific. ‘Closed between the A1 and A67’ does not say whether local traffic can cross the A66 or use short parts of it.
