Lorry driver hurt in A66 collision

A lorry driver suffered serious injuries in yesterday’s collision on the A66.

The male driver of the lorry had to be released by firefighters after the collision near Ravensworth.

He was taken to hospital suffering from back, neck and shoulder injuries.

The female driver of a VW Polo was out of vehicle on our arrival of emergency services.

She was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Fire crews from Richmond, Colburn and Ripon attended the incident at about 5.35pm on Wednesday.

The crews made the vehicles safe.

The road was shut in both directions for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene.
