The A66 has reopened after a serious collision overnight.
The trans-Pennine route was closed in both directions for around eight hours for an investigation to take place.
The incident occurred late last night between Greta Bridge and Bowes.
The road was shut between Scotch Corner and Bowes after the two-vehicle incident.
