The A684 in Wensleydale is to close during the day for five days for repair work.

The route will shut this week between West Witton and the junction to West Burton at Temple Bank, between Swinithwaite and Aysgarth, from Wednesday until Friday, 9.30am to 3.30pm.

It will then close from Gale Bank junction near Wensley to West Witton on Monday, February 6 and Tuesday, February 7, again between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire County Council said: “All businesses within the closure will be open as usual with on-site personnel assisting with access to businesses and properties.

“Whilst the works are in progress, fully signed diversion will be in place.

“Please be advised there may be extended periods when access will not be possible due to the nature of the works and physical constraints of the site.

“Pedestrian and emergency services access will be maintained.

“This work is part of an extensive programme and therefore, some adjustment to this start date or the duration of the works may be necessary should unforeseen circumstances such as significant weather events or emergencies on the highway network arise.”
