A684 to close at Morton-on-Swale for road repairs

The A684 will be closed for three days at Morton-on-Swale next week for road repairs.

North Yorkshire County Council highways team will carry out excavation and repair work to an area of road which has severely subsided.

Officials say the work is scheduled to take three days under a full road closure.

A signed diversion will be in place.

Vehicle access to properties may be affected, but contractors will assist during the working day.

Council officers say there may be times when access isn’t possible due to the nature of the works.

Operatives working on site will be observing Government guidelines on safe social distancing.

County councillor Annabel Wilkinson, of the Swale division, said: “This is essential work to repair a large area of road in Morton-on-Swale which has subsided.

“If, as work progresses, circumstances enable us to lift the full road closure, we will do so.

“We apologise for the disruption these works will cause but ask drivers for their patience and understanding to ensure a safely executed project.”
