The acclaimed Barnsley Youth Choir will perform today ahead of a performance at the famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The concert, Joy, will feature 80 singers and a professional band and focus on music of all genres including pop, gospel, spirituals and more traditional classical music.
On Monday at 12.30pm to 1.30pm the choiu will perform a special concert at St Mary’s Church in Richmond for a special fundraising concert in aid of vital development work that needs to take place at Melsonby Church.
Musical director Mat Wright said: “We are delighted to be able to perform in Richmond and support such an important local cause.
“We will make this detour on our way to Edinburgh and will perform the Fringe show, ‘Joy’.
“We recognise that for many rural communities churches remain an important focal point and this development work is really important for Melsonby and this parish. Every penny raised will go to support this local cause and BYC will not take a fee and will cover its own expenses.
“We really hope that Richmond and this Parish get behind the event – this is a fabulous opportunity to see an exceptional choir perform and there will be music to suit all tastes”.
