Accountants raise £20,000 for charity following death of colleague

Colleagues of an accountant have raised more than £20,000 for charity in her memory.

Staff from Walter Dawson & Son presented a cheque for £20,024 to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA).

The money was raised by a team of 35 which took on the gruelling 24.5-mile Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on June 25.

The firm chose YAA as its annual charity partner in memory of their colleague Adele Chambers, manager of the Leyburn branch, who passed away earlier in the year.

A company spokesperson said: “This charity has become even more poignant for us all due to the tragic loss of Adele Chambers, who was manager at our Leyburn office.

“Adele sadly passed away on March 8 after collapsing in the office two weeks earlier.

“Yorkshire Air Ambulance attended to Adele on her collapse, and their quick response and dedicated and professional team had at least given Adele a fighting chance.

“Adele was a wonderful, caring, and joyful lady to know, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

“The support we have received shows what a worthy cause it is. Thanks go to all who donated and supported us.”
