A charity is working with a Middleham take-away to get hot meals to more vulnerable people.

Age UK North Yorkshire and Darlington is working with Anderson’s to expand its service to Wensleydale and Coverdale.

Jonathan Ratcliffe, charity spokesman, said:” “We’re really pleased to be working with Anderson’s of Middleham to expand our hot meal service into the Leyburn area.

“They have been really well received wherever we have offered them and are proving to be a lifeline for many isolated older people.”

Anderson’s owner Mikey Anderson said he was delighted to be working with the charity to provide hot meals, including a pudding, seven days a week.

The service is provisionally available in Coverdale, Leyburn and surrounding villages, and villages in Wensleydale between Leyburn and Askrigg.

The service offers a fixed two course nutritionally balanced set menu every day, delivered between 12pm and 2pm.

They’re delivered by volunteers to the door who’ve been trained in good hygiene and infection control practices to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

The meals cost £5 including delivery and can be arranged by calling 01325 741492 or emailing [kofi]
