The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAA) were then called to assist.
A GNAA spokesman said: “We were called to Leyburn at around 9.30am on Saturday to help Yorkshire Ambulance Service after a local woman fell seriously ill.
“The land crew did a brilliant job stabilising the patient.
“We then flew her to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
“The flight took ten minutes. The journey by road would have taken around an hour.”
