Annual Christmas tree festival raises more than £850 for good causes

Richmond Methodist Church‘s annual Christmas Tree Festival has raised more than £850 for two local good causes

The event, held over nine days at the beginning of December, raised £750 for local charity The Paul Curran Celebration Trust and £112.50 for the Two Ridings Dales Flood Relief Fund.

This year’s festival was a joint project between the Richmond Methodist Church and Richmondshire Youth Theatre and included performances from Richmondshire Youth Theatre, Musicality Ladies Choir, The Rhythm and Shoes Dance Academy, The Dales Pop Choir and story telling by Rhoda Fraser.

Sue Hedges, project coordinator, said: “All 24 Christmas trees were beautifully dressed by local people, businesses and organisations, creating a seasonal welcome to all who visited the festival.

“Each of the groups who performed were amazing.

“Thanks especially to the vast team of volunteers from the Church and Youth Theatre who worked tirelessly to ensure success”.

Linda Curran DL of the Paul Curran Celebration Trust, said: “I am overwhelmed at this kind donation which will enable us to continue to support young people in our community.”
