Antiques and artwork stolen in Richmond burglary

A painting by local artist Lynn Ward, which was stolen.

Police are appealing for information after antiques and artwork were stolen in a burglary in Richmond.

It happened on Frenchgate between January 30  and February while the residents were away when antiques and artwork were stolen worth several thousand pounds.

Police say the stolen items are very distinctive and include two paintings, one called ‘Distant Valley’ by local artist Lynn Ward, a picture by French artist Valette, and a silver Elizabeth II punchbowl.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Please call the police if you have been offered any of the items for sale or know where they are now.

“Please also get in touch if you have any information about the burglary or saw any suspicious activity or people in Frenchgate over the time period when the burglary occurred.”
