Apartments set to be turned into hotel rooms at Richmond venue

The Fleece Hotel, Richmond.

Two apartments at the Fleece Hotel in Richmond are set to become letting rooms.

A planning application has been submitted to convert the second floor and penthouse apartments in to eight hotel rooms.

Documents submitted with the application say the venue has been run at a profit since 2019, when it was taken over by investor Chris Miles.

The documents add: “The Fleece Hotel was only recently lovingly restored and has been operating profitably since 2019, the success of the business coupled with increasing operating costs, means expansion is necessary.

“The only way to do that is to convert the two remaining apartments in the building to en-suite letting rooms – reversing the use back to commercial.

“The works will be confined to areas that were significantly altered in the original restoration works.

“Little significance can be placed on the heritage impact due to all works taking place internally, and to areas that are less than five years old.

“The historic fabric will not be touched.”

The application has been submitted to Richmondshire District Council.
