Residents in the Yorkshire Dales are being urged to check CCTV and doorbell footage following a series of early-morning vehicle thefts.
A grey Audi Q5 was stolen from Park Lane in Middleham, while a quadbike was taken from Hawes during the early hours of Monday, April 20, 2026.
The incidents are believed to have taken place between 1am and 3.30am, with suspicious activity reported by residents in nearby Simonstone and members of the Durham Border Watch group.
CCTV footage captured in Middleham shows five individuals in the Park Lane area at 1.09am this morning.
Footage shows a white Golf following the stolen car in St Alkeldas at 1.23am.
Reports included multiple quadbikes being ridden over the tops from Buttertubs towards Thwaite.
Both stolen vehicles were recovered around an hour later in County Durham. The Audi was found in Staindrop, while the quadbike was located in Shildon.
A 26-year-old man was arrested by Durham Police in connection with the incident.
Enquiries are ongoing to trace the white Volkswagen Golf, which was reportedly pursued in the Durham area.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or has relevant CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward.
