Police have issued an appeal after a woman was followed while out running.
The incident occurred at about 4pm on Monday in Middleton Tyas.
A vehicle with two male occupants followed a women out running at a close distance for around two miles.
The car was described as silver and about the size of a Vaulkswagon Polo.
The car was then driven back past the female.
On the rear of the vehicle was a misogynistic statement written in dirt, which police have declined to reveal due to the vulgar language.
Police say this behaviour will not be tolerated and are urging anyone with information to get in touch.
