Appeal after motorcycles stolen from long-running community scheme

The stolen bikes.

Police are appealing for information after several burglaries were reported in the Catterick and Colburn areas, including a significant break-in at the Risedale Youth Club building.

The incident occurred between 2pm on Saturday, December and 5am on Monday 8 December 2025. Several motorcycles belonging to the Richmondshire Area Motorcycle Programme (RAMP) were stolen.

RAMP, founded in 2005, is a long-running intervention scheme dedicated to teaching young people essential road safety skills, motorcycle maintenance and safe riding techniques. Volunteers have been delivering the programme for more than 20 years, and the theft of the bikes is expected to cause a major setback.

A spokesperson said the loss may delay next year’s course, affecting young people who rely on the scheme for practical learning and support.

Police are now urging the public to come forward with any information that could help identify those responsible.

Officers would particularly like to hear from anyone who:

  • Saw or heard anything suspicious between the times and dates mentioned

  • Has CCTV or video doorbell footage covering the area

  • Has a vehicle with a dashcam parked nearby that may have captured relevant activity

Anyone who can assist the investigation is asked to call 101, quoting reference 12250230692, or to email jon.hobson@northyorkshire.police.uk.
