A group of young people have launched an appeal to pay for the redecoration of Risedale Youth Centre.

The team plans to repaint the centre at Risedale School, as well as install new blinds and improve the lighting.

The seven young people are taking part in a Prince’s Trust course and part of that course is to complete a community project.

Team member Sophie Watson said: “The youth centre at the moment is hardly used as nothing has been done with it for more than ten years.

“We are fundraising as much as we can as there is a lot to do.

“The funds we have raised so far will pay for the basic things like most of the paint and paintbrushes.

“We would like to possibly have blinds fitted and perhaps someone to do the lights.

“Any help at all would be fantastic.”

As well as launching an online appeal, the team has raised money by packing bags at Tesco.
