Apple AirTag found attached to sheep amid theft fears

Police are warning farmers to be vigilant after an Apple AirTag was discovered attached to the neck of a sheep in what is believed to be a suspected attempt to track the animal for theft.

The alert was issued by PC Heather Campbell, of North Yorkshire Police, following the report in the Leyburn area.

Officers believe the tracking device may have been placed on the sheep so those responsible could return at a later date and steal the animal.

Police are urging livestock owners to remain vigilant and check their animals for any suspicious items.

Anyone who notices suspicious vehicles, unusual activity or anything that causes concern is asked to report it to North Yorkshire Police  on 101 as soon as possible.
