Artist to give illustrated talk on Alfred Wainwright project

Award-winning watercolour artist Andy Beck is giving an illustrated talk at The Station, Richmond on Monday, April 8.

Inspired by the work of master fell walker and artist Alfred Wainwright, Andy Beck has undertaken a major, ten-year project of producing a watercolour sketch of each of the 1,500 illustrations drawn by Wainwright in his seven volume A Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells.

Andy has meticulously researched every single location for the illustrations so that all his references are taken from the exact location where Wainwright stood to take his own black and white photographs.

In this illustrated talk, Andy will tell tales from his extraordinary undertaking, pay homage to the great Alfred Wainwright and provide fascinating insights into how the scenes have changed in the 50 years between Wainwright’s project and his own.

He will also speak about his multi award-winning book based on the whole project.

The talk is to be held in the Café Bar at the Station in Richmond on Monday, April 8 at 11am.

Tickets for the talk are now on sale at Castle Hill Bookshop in Richmond, The Café Bar at the Station and Richmond Information Centre. The price of £12.50  is inclusive of a £5 voucher for the Station Café Bar.

All proceeds are for The Old Grammar School restoration project.
