Artists explore passion for Yorkshire at Richmond exhibition

Jo and Lynn at the Station.

Two local artists will explore their passion for the landscape, heritage and wildlife within Yorkshire at a new exhibition.

New work by Lynn Ward and Jo Garlick will go on display at The Station in Richmond, in May, following on from their previous exhibition there, last October.

Both artists say they are heavily inspired by North Yorkshire and love an excuse to get out into nature.

Lynn’s paintings often portray dramatic skies and rolling hills.

But she also finds interest in the less obvious parts of the landscape, focusing on a barn, gateway or stone wall.

Light is a key factor in Lynn’s work.

She said: “I am drawn to stormy skies and shapes and shadows created by a gate or a stone wall.”

Jo paints pictures of both wildlife and landscapes, using soft pastels handmade in Northumberland.

Jo loves the flexibility that pastel offers and enjoys experimenting with different effects and techniques.

She said “I love watching wildlife and try to capture their character traits within my work.”

Jo and Lynn will be showcasing a range of new original work, alongside their extensive ranges of limited edition prints and greeting cards.

Drawn to Nature runs at the Station from May 12 to 24..
