A Richmondshire salon owner is celebrating a summer of success.

Kathy Scott, from Ginger Tree Holistic Health and Beauty, based at Aske, near Richmond, travelled to London recently after her business was a finalist in the 2018 iiaa Salon of Excellence Awards.

Kathy joined more than 150 salon owners, therapists and iiaa staff for lunch at the renowned Quaglino’s restaurant.

This story continues after the adverts:

Kathy said: “I rubbed shoulders with some very big names in the facial and skin care industry and made some wonderful new connections.

“Although I didn’t win, I was in the top five salons for the whole of UK and Irish Republic for my category and size – not bad I’d say.”

Kathy is also celebrating after receiving her first 5-star Client Excellence Award from Phorest Salon Software.

Phorest keep a track of reviews and salon performance over a 12-month period and Ginger Tree has received consistent 4 and 5 stars.

In a further boost to the business, Ginger Tree has been awarded Silver Salon Status by iiaa.

Kathy said: “I will be increasing my make up knowledge and have been invited to a select group to meet the previous spa director of Rockcliffe Hall.

“No doubt I will learn lots of new information from her.”

Kathy has also recently achieved her Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Skin Science and Aesthetic Practice.

“It has been a very hard slog, basically working seven days a week to keep up with everything, but the hard work has paid off and I have been told I have passed my exams with distinction – I am thrilled,” she said.
