The Rhythm and Shoes Dance Academy is celebrating after winning the Prestige Awards Dance School of the Year, North Yorkshire 2022/23.
The academy is run by Hazel Richmond and her daughters Louise and Hannah.
Hazel said the judges were impressed by the number and variety of dance styles that they offered.
She added: “The judges commended us on the sheer amount of dance teaching qualifications in multiple dance genres that we hold between us, from ballet, tap and modern, contemporary, acrobatics, street, musical theatre and many more.
“In addition Louise is an experienced early years practitioner and holds qualified teacher status in education.”
The award caps off a busy year fort the academy, which includes Richmond Mayfest at the castle, two weekends of shows at the Georgian Theatre in the summer, Richmond Christmas Market event and Richmond Methodist Church Christmas Tree Festival.
“We have pupils performing in four different pantomimes in and around the Richmond area, and we also managed to fit in hundreds of exams which all our students passed with excellent results.
“We always have lots going on and plenty of opportunities for our students.
“We are delighted that our dance academy is so popular, and our pupil database is continually growing.
“We would like to thank all our parents, pupils, local schools and nurseries and also members of the local business community for their continued support, we really do appreciate you all.”
