B6255 between Hawes and Ingleton to close for urgent repairs

Diversions will be in place on the B6255.

UPDATE: THE ROAD HAD REOPENED TODAY, AUGUST 4, WITH TEMPORARY TRAFFIC LIGHTS NOW IN PLACE.

Urgent repairs are to be carried out by North Yorkshire County Council to a collapsed culvert beneath the B6255 at Widdale and to the road.

Following a recent report, investigations by the County Council have found that the culvert has collapsed over its full length beneath the road.

The repairs to the culvert and road between Hawes and Ingleton are essential to ensure that a further collapse is avoided.

The work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, 2 August, with the first section programmed to last three days and requiring closure of the road.

There will be a signed diversion in place.

The remainder of the work will be completed under temporary traffic signals and is expected to take a further five days.

Temporary traffic control has been in place since the initial report.
