Behaviour of visitors to Richmond Falls ‘improving’, say police

Alcohol confiscated at Richmond Falls in recent weeks.

The behaviour of visitors to a Richmond beauty spot has improved, police say.

Incidents of anti-social behaviour, drunkenness and drug taking have occurred a number of times at the Falls and Batts area in recent years.

A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) has been out in place in attempt to reduce problems.

Richmondshire’s neighbourhood policing team say they carried out patrols in the Falls area today.

Sergeant Lauren Wilkinson said: “We have noticed a marked improvement and reduction in the anti-social behaviour in this area which hopefully is making the Falls a more appealing place for people to visit, who won’t have their day spoilt by others who can’t behave.

“We will be actively out and about this weekend so should you need to report anything of concern to us please do so in person, through our website, on the 101 or 999 number or anonymously through crimestoppers.

“In the meantime enjoy the beautiful pictures we have been lucky enough to take over the last few days.”
