Captured on camera – excitement mounts among the heavenly host as these Christmas angels prepare for the nativity play at Hawes Community Primary School.

Headteacher Hanna Vasey caught the moment among the five and six year olds at the dress rehearsal for the three-part Christmas entertainment with the new musical nativity by Mark and Helen Johnson at its heart.

The school is not Church of England controlled, but the choice of the traditional Christian story was an important one for the children, said Ms Vasey, who took over as head in September.
The story continues after the adverts. . .

“We want to emphasise the real meaning of Christmas alongside all the excitement of giving and receiving presents,” she said.

The 50 pupils who took part, aged three to seven, were put through their paces by teachers Charlotte Ward, Andrea Caygill and Maisie Thistlethwaite, and parents and staff made the costumes.
