A Wensleydale enduro motorbiker racer has celebrated her 21st birthday by competing for Team GB.

Nieve Holmes, from Bellerby, was part of the women’s team at the recent International Six Days Enduro championship held in the Algarve, in Portugal.

Nieve, together with teammates Jane Daniels and Rosie Rowett, made the podium finishing third overall.

It was the first time Great Britain had sent a women’s team.

Nieve competed despite suffering a broken shoulder.

She said said she was proud of what the team had achieved over the week.

Nieve added: “Personally I had a really tough week riding with my shoulder injury and having it dislocate twice on day four was far from ideal, but I also put some good test times in throughout the week so highs and lows.”

Nieve said it was “pretty cool” to celebrate her 21st birthday while representing Team GB at the event.

  1. Nieve, along with her riding companions showed true grit and determination to deal with whatever the terrain and weather might throw at them. The Six Day event is not for the faint hearted and she did it all with style 🙂
