Alice Cockburn has been with Milners for five months.

The benefits of apprenticeships schemes have been highlighted by the success of a Leyburn apprentice.

Alice Cockburn has been with Milners of Leyburn for five months in her role as sales and marketing assistant.

Alice’s role is diverse within the business and she often accompanies director, Leonie Garrard, on buying trips to pick out the new season’s collections which gives her hands on experience of the exciting fashion industry.

She is also responsible for the Facebook presence of Milners where she has the opportunity to engage online with customers while learning digital marketing skills.

Alice works at Milners four days a week as well as attending Darlington College every Tuesday to complete coursework.

In a few  months Alice will have earned her business administration level 2 diploma qualification.

Alice said: “I love working at Milners; there is such a lot to learn and always something going on.

“The team are amazing to work with and I have lots of freedom to explorer and get to find my own feet.

“Apprenticeships are a great way to earn and learn.”

This week is National Apprenticeship Week, a Government backed initiative to encourage and celebrate the success of apprentices in the workplace.
