Black Lion completes guest room revamp as investment programme wraps up

A Richmond pub has unveiled newly refurbished guest rooms following the final stage of a major investment programme.

The Black Lion has reopened its upgraded accommodation after work to modernise the space and bring it in line with earlier improvements to the bar and downstairs areas.

The refurbishment has been carried out by pub company Punch Pubs & Co as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the overall experience for visitors.

The revamped rooms now feature a more contemporary yet cosy design, aimed at appealing to the steady flow of tourists visiting Richmond and the surrounding Yorkshire Dales throughout the year.

At the centre of the pub’s story is management partner Michaela, whose 16-year journey at The Black Lion has seen her rise from housekeeper to running the business.

During that time, she has worked in a range of roles including behind the bar and as a supervisor, before taking on the pub herself.

She said the latest investment had already been well received.

“I’m delighted with the investment. The feedback has already been fantastic, and most importantly, our guests love it,” she said.

With the refurbishment now complete, Michaela and her team say they are looking forward to welcoming both returning and new guests as they build on the pub’s reputation for hospitality and community spirit.
