Richmond Bowls Club showed off their new look green at a special open day last week.
The club have replaced the boundary ditches thanks to a £15,855 grant from Richmondshire District Council’s Community Investment Fund (CIF).
The £22,650 scheme has future proofed the green which is vital to the running of the club and the local community.
To showcase the new look, club members held an open day on Friday as part of Bowls England’s plan to get more people into the sport.
Jen Capewell, club secretary, said: “It was an opportunity for local residents to try out the sport and for us to show off the new boundary ditches for which the district council’s community investment fund played a big part by donating 75 per cent of the cost.”
The CIF grant scheme has £250,000 to allocate to community and social projects across Richmondshire this year to support new projects and improvement schemes for facilities for local people.
The five growth areas of Colburn, Richmond, Hipswell, Scotton and Leyburn will benefit from £150,000 of the fund with the remainder available across the rest of the district.
