Police have issued the update this morning following the incident at the theme park on Thursday morning.
Police also say the boy is aged seven, not six as originally notified.
It was initially stated that the boy had non-life threatening injuries but police say the child was assessed at hospital and found to have injuries that would not have been apparent at the scene.

“The boy was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with head injuries following the incident where he currently remains.
“However, his condition is now described as critical.
“Although this is a joint investigation by North Yorkshire Police and The Health and Safety Executive, the HSE currently has primacy.”
